The 2018 Farm Bill was instrumental in the growth of the hemp/CBD sector. It made a clear distinction between marijuana and hemp, classifying cannabis with less than 0.3% THC as legal Industrial hemp. THC is the chemical that creates marijuana’s infamous high, and farmers planning on growing hemp had to meet that low level of this compound.

Bereaved family members denounce labor inspection results on Coupang

Bereaved family members of industrial accident victims at Coupang on Friday denounced the results of a labor inspection into the online retailer, accusing the labor ministry of giving the company a "free pass." After an inspection of the company, the labor ministry said Thursday it decided not to recommend a criminal investigation into cover-up allegations surrounding the death of a Coupang logistics worker in 2020. The worker died of acute myocardial infarction following an overnight shift, raising suspicions of overwork. HD Hyundai, Kiewit to form JV to build shipyard in US

Korean shipbuilding giant HD Hyundai Co. said Friday it will establish a joint venture with U.S. engineering and construction company Kiewit to build a new shipyard in the United States. Delinquency ratio on bank loans up for 2nd month in August

The delinquency ratio on loans extended by banks rose for the second consecutive month in August, data showed Friday. The delinquency numbers on banks' won-denominated loans stood at 0.69 percent as of end-August, up 0.06 percentage point from a month earlier, according to the data from the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS). The amount of newly overdue loans came to 3 trillion won ($2.26 billion) in August, down 0.2 trillion won from the previous month. The amount of write-offs of such loans, on the other hand, came in at 1.5 trillion won, up 0.1 trillion won over the cited period, according to the FSS. The delinquency ratio for corporate loans stood at 0.86 percent as of end-August, up 0.08 percentage point from a month earlier, and the ratio for household loans rose 0.03 percentage point to 0.45 percent over the same period.
