VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, September 5, 2018 – Blue Moon Plays LLC today announced the publication of a new suite of theatrical works that underscore the rich tapestry of the American landscape. These plays represent the underrepresented in American society and are now available for licensing by theater producers, literary agents and booking agencies in the U.S. and abroad.
The new plays now being offered by Blue Moon are:
– Humans Remain – A powerful, intense, lyrical drama by Robin Rice that pits the survival of the White Cliff Kinfolk, a peace-loving isolated society hidden in the New Jersey hills, against the intrusion of a curious journalist from the “outside.”
– She’ll Find Her Way Home – In a Southern, post-civil-war love story by Valetta Anderson, a young African-American woman struggles to choose between two suitors: a light-skinned man who expects them to “pass” for white and a darker man reminiscent of her African heritage.
– Lost and Found – In this hour-long, simply-staged drama by Marsha Sheiness, eight teens share their struggles with gender and sexual orientation.
– Angel Band – A researcher threatens to upend the generations-old traditions of the “blue people” of Kentucky, as well as their neighboring snake-handling congregation of the Signs-Following Church , in this lyrical drama by Robert P. Arthur. (Available for workshops and premiers.)
– Nat Turner’s Last Struggle: Finding His Way Home by P.A. Wray -This 60-minute, 2-character drama by P.A. Wray takes place between his hanging and his death. Who was Nat Turner? A murderous villain or a freedom fighter for his people? A mysterious woman appears to guide him home.
– N, a play by Adrienne Pender that depicts the clashes between famed African-American actor Charles Gilpin and playwright Eugene O’Neill over the excessive use of “the n-word” in The Emperor Jones.
– Refraction of Light – This World War II-era drama by J. H. Klein tells the story of an African-American veteran who encounters the prejudices of segregated America when he decides to buy a house owned by a white teacher who mentored him as a young man. (Available for workshop productions and premieres)
“In these troubled times, it is especially important to bridge divides by reaching as wide and diverse an audience as possible with our dramatic works,” said Blue Moon Principal Jean Klein.
